This talk will cover both FET and BJT technology, and discuss working principle and physics, equations and working areas, dimensioning, strange effects and whats causing them. In effect, I (Koenraad) will try to pour every bit of knowledge I have about transistors in this afternoon. In-dept talk about the very basic element of electronics, the element that makes all electronics tick, and that was the start of the electronics revolution: the transistor. This talk will cover both FET and BJT technology, and discuss working principle and physics, equations and working areas, dimensioning, strange effects and whats causing them. In effect, I (Koenraad) will try to pour every bit of knowledge I have about transistors in this afternoon. I don't know if it will be possible (probably not), but that won't stop me from trying.
So, since we only have so much time, this talk will be about transistors, and only about transistors. Only small hints at applications, no circuits, no history lessons. Only transistors. If you think only so much can be said about one small element: you're wrong. Let the faint of heart be warned: it will get analog. Very analog.
