Abstract[edit]

This talk emerged from my quest to build a security system and subscription checking system for my local gym.
I'll go through the stages of trying to solve the problems at hand using an Arduino, RFID reader and a Adafruit Data Logging Shield.
I'll touch upon some key phases of the development of the system and how close I get to the limits of the tools used (and hopefully some ways around these limits).

About the speaker[edit]

Björn Vandenheede has been been doing Java Development for over 12 years but during his current quest he found himself to be an Arduino / C++ / Electronics n00b.
This talk is a result of trying to get past the n00b level.
You can read about his other endeavors on his *cough* splendid *cough* blog site
